Drum roll please........ I am so excited for these two ladies.  If you bought a lotto ticket and didn't win, here is a gift with better odds.  Be sure to contact me at denise@quilterswindow.com so we can get your information and get these prizes in the mail.  The anticipation would be way to much to hold on to for very long, so with that in mind if the prizes go unclaimed after 10 days, I will draw again.  Don't miss out!

Blog Hop Day 5

30 Mar 2012

Day 5 of the blog hop.  A Winner of the book and a Fit to Be Quarter ruler will be posted on Saturday, so be sure to stop back and see if you were one of the lucky ones!

Today I thought you might enjoy a few pictures of Monique's visits to Quilter's Window and a couple of her quilts I finished in this past year.  I know I have put together more than two of her quilt patterns, most recently her pattern called Dancing Stars.  Needless to say Dancing Stars is at the store and I don't have a picture yet, so I will have to share that one with you all later.  Check out the other featured below.

Ladies Night/Book Signing

At the release of the book Fat Quarter Winners, Quilter's Window hosted a Ladies Night featuring a book signing, ruler demos, wine tasting and horsdevours.  The ladies had fun and we enjoyed treating them!

Sewing at Dealers Choice Retreat

Monique at the Dealer's Choice Retreat.  Yes, she even got to sew! Do you like the retreat name?  Thought it was kinda fitting since all the quilts were named after card games.  Each quilter had a choice to do either "Speed" or "Gin Rummy". Hopefully at this years retreat they will be back with a show and tell!  Be watching for details on the October 2012 Dealer's Choice Retreat.

Fit To Be Quarter Quilt

This is one of the quilts I finished after the first of this year. "Fit To Be Quarter". This is the FREE Pattern you get with the Fit to Be Quarter ruler. If you got scraps you can make hour glass blocks and have fun doing it.  Need the ruler, we always have some on hand, just give us a shout and we will put it in the mail for you!

House Sitter

Okay, the geese were flocking all around me.  At the time I was over come by geese and didn't think I was ever going to have them all gathered up.  Love this quilt and its simplicity.  The quilting really makes the center strips stand out.  Thanks Linda for always doing an awesome job with the quilts we put together and those that our customers bring in so you can add that finishing touch.

Hope you have enjoyed the blog this week.  Don't be shy, we love to have you visit so stop back soon!  Check back Saturday and see if you were one of the winners of the Blog Hop!

Blog Hop Day 4

29 Mar 2012

Wow!  Loved reading all the posts on the card games everyone has played over the years. There is even a few I never have heard of and will have to check them out.  In my younger years, whom I kidding, I'm still young right?  I have memories of my sisters and I playing Kings Corner &Slap Jack.  When I met my husband Bill a trip to his grandma's house was never quick.  She was an avid card player and that is where I played my first game of Canasta.  There would be lots of us around the kitchen table and one would have to think it was an initiation into the family. Having a large family people would just keep showing up, that's what happens when you have 9 children. She would just add more decks of cards and tell you to sit down, that meant more hours of playing cards.  Bunches of family fun!

Like most of you, I don't play cards much these days but love a good game of Euchre from time to time.  I would prefer to create with fabric and spend time with Pfaff.

As I promised here is Monique's version of "Solitaire" that you will see in her new book Traditional Fat Quarter Quilts.

Solitaire

Today you need to take a trip and visit Sherri for her blog post and see what she has created from this great book!  http://www.aquiltinglife.com/

Blog Tour Day 3

28 Mar 2012

Half Square Triangles
Wednesday....day 3 of the blog tour.  You seen piles of half square triangles from my post the other day.  What was I thinking? I believe it was a game of Solitaire with my fabrics.  I tried my best to play my cards right by using a spin mat and the Fit to Be Quarter ruler. Did I win this card game? Let me know what you think.

Thanks Monique for designing such a great tool!  Take a look and leave your comment on your favorite card game or if you've put together one of Moniques quilts, what was your favorite.  By leaving a comment you could win a "Traditional Fat Quarter Quilts" book. Be sure to leave a way to be contacted.

 Solitaire

Here's the game of "Solitaire" I played with my fabrics.  Stop back Thursday and check out Moniques version of Solitaire.  Would you like a signed copy of this awesome book? Join us at Quilter's Window on April 14th from 9am-3pm.  Monique will be at Quilter's Window for a book signing during our "Ladies It's Your Day" event downtown New Hampton, IA.

Quilter's love retreats, right? Last year the first "Dealers Choice" retreat was held and quilters were dealt a choice of two quilts from Moniques first book "Fat Quarter Winners". By popular demand another Dealers Choice retreat is being planned for this October....what will the dealer plan for a game of cards this year? Sure hope you are planning another book of card games Monique. Be sure to visit Moniques Open Gate Blog as it is her day to blog too!
